Quick Start

This article will show you how to get started with Simple Popup. Once installed you will be presented with the configuration page.

There are three main sections to configurating a popup. These are:

  • Content
  • Behaviour
  • Design & Style

Content

This is the main section for inserting your Title and Text for your popup. You can type up to 3000 characters as part of the body and can also insert multiple lines of text. 

The Active switch, by default, is set to off, so the popup will not show to any visitors. Switch to On when you're ready to start showing it to visitors.

Behaviour

You can decide when, and how often, visitors see your popup message. 

Display Delay

The Display Delay controls how many seconds after the page has loaded the popup should show to the visitor. By default this is set to 1 second, but you can enter any number.

Display Frequency

There are two main options as to how often visitors see the popup. These are:

  • Show once per visit
  • Show on every page load

Show once per visit is the most commonly used option and the one you would use in most situations. Show on every page load should only be used for important messages that you want the visitor to always see.

When Show once per visit is selected, additional options are displayed to ensure that the popup is always displayed on certain pages. These are Cart, Checkout and confirmation. These options are useful if your message to the visitors are specifically related to delivery, payment or promotions and you want to reinforce your message and ensure they see it again before checking out.

NOTE: If you select the "Show once per visit" option, if you make changes to your popup, any visitors live on the site would see the popup again with the new changes.

Design & Style

This section will allow you to change the look and feel of your popup to fit in with your store. This includes all text, the button, and the background and border of the main popup content.

Setting Fonts

All sections include the ability to change the Font. You can select from a number of popular Google Fonts, or leave the font unset by selecting the " None" option in order to use the font defined within your stores theme.

Previewing

You can click the Preview button at the bottom of the page at anytime to preview the popup. This will give you a good idea of how visitors will see the popup when it is displayed to them.

NOTE: If you have selected the  None option for any fonts in the Design & Style section, then the popup preview may not accurately display what visitors will see, however, it will give you a good idea.

Saving & Activating

Once you are happy with your popup message, ensure the  Active switch in the Content section is switched on. Click the Save button at the bottom to save the changes you have made.

NOTE: Once you have saved your popup it may take up to a minute or so to display on the site due to browser caching.
